According to multiple sources (including the one listed above), even having the VMware Tools installed won't help much - it's the way in which Mac OS X handles graphics and GUI. With the advent of OS X Yosemite (and newer versions), a new system for Screen Redrawing and Window Management was introduced. It's called Beam Syncrhronization.
Did you know that you can actually install Mac OS X on your Windows PC? Well, thanks to VMware you can do it. Whether the computer is run by an Intel or AMD processor you can enjoy all the features OS X has to offer right on your Windows PC. How do you do this? Here we will focus on how to install MacOS X 10.10Yosemite AMD on VMware Player and Workstation. VMware is virtualization software that makes it possible for Windows users to have other operating systems installed in their PCs.
These operating systems are installed in a virtual machine created using VMware software. The operating systems that can be installed include OS X, Windows and Linux among others.
When a virtual machine is opened, it works just like a computer does, allowing users internet access, use of different application and programs among others. Users have two computers in one. When it comes to using VMware, users have two options; the VMware Player and the VMware Workstation. The Player is perfect for use at home. It allows users to run a single instance of the guest operating system in a PC. On the other hand, the Workstation is a paid option that allows developers and other interested users run multiple instances on one computer. Developers can test how their apps would perform on various devices by changing the settings of the virtual machines to create different environments.
This is very useful to developers who would want to save money they would have otherwise spent buying various devices. Windows users who have been wondering what the Yosemite has to offer can now make use of VMware and enjoy all its benefits. Simply get the Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite AMD version and install it in your VMware virtual machine. The only freely available Mac OS X Yosemite AMD version is that one by Niresh. This works well but before it does you will need to change the bootloader and add hardware Kext.
We will show you the entire process right here. At the end of it, you will have a functional OS X Yosemite running in your AMD-powered PC.
What You will need: Not every AMD computer will be able to run an OS X Yosemite virtual machine. There are minimum requirements starting with the processor which should not be anything earlier than i3 or i5.
The RAM should be at least 4GB with 2.5GB set to be used by VMware. Your hard drive should have at least 20GB to spare while your Windows operating system should not be earlier than Windows 7. The display should be HD or higher and above all, the motherboard should support Virtualization Technology. Does your PC meet all the system requirements?
If yes, let us keep going. You will need to have a few things ready before getting started. Download these items and you can get started: Yosemite Niresh AMD Processor Image: Google drive: Fix Download Limit: Steps to Use Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite AMD Processor on VMware on Windows Step 1: Extract Image File with or Download and extract the Niresh Yosemite 10.10 AMD image file. To extract you will need to have Winrar, 7Zip or any other unzipping software. Simply right-click on the downloaded image and select “Extract here”. Choose OS system Select “I will install operating system later” and click on “Next”. Choose the guest operating system.
Select the operating system type as Windows and the version is Windows 8 or 10. Click on “Next”. Choose a name for the virtual machine and the folder where all information associated with the virtual machine will be stored. Click “Next”. Choose the memory and network settings and click on “Finish”. Step 4: Add Bootloader AMD Disk and Yosemite Virtual Disk Edit the virtual machine. To do this, click on “Edit virtual machine settings”. Under the hard disk section, select “Harddisk (Sata)” and click on “Remove”.
This removes the existing hard disk so you can add the bootloader AMD disk. To add Bootloader AMD, click on Hard disk and then “add”. Click on “Use an existing virtual disk” and browse to the Bootload for AMD.vmdk file. All Virtual Disk Step 5: Edit Your Virtual Machine Under the Memory and Processors tabs, make options as you wish. Set up the amount of RAM and processor you would like to set up for the virtual machine.
Under Network, select NAT. Step 6: Play Virtual Machine with Boot Flag (about 5 minute) Other PCs may play the Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite Niresh virtual machine without a problem but in HP, AMD and Haswell, users may require custom kernels. In Haswell, the kernel to use is “/Haswell” while in HP laptops with Intel processors the kernel to use is “/hp” or “/hp1”. Kernels that will work for AMD users are:: /amd: /amd1: /amd2: /amd64: /amd32 (its actually a 64 bit kernel): /amdfx (can also boot non FX Processors) Haswell Users: /haswell HP Laptops with Intel Processors: /hp or /hp1 How do you use this kernel?
When you boot the virtual machine, a boot screen will be shown. Just type in the kernel and press the enter button. The Virtual Machine will then power up properly allowing you to set up your account.
